SAP Note 11489 - What to do when there are print problems in QM.

Symptom

Either an incorrect inspection instruction or sample drawing instruc-
tion is printed, or none at all.
Errors in the print control settings in the Customizing application
cannot be ruled out.

If no inspection instruction or sample drawing instruction is printed,
two different situations can exist:
a) In the inspection lot transactions, no sample drawing instruction or
inspection instruction can be printed after the sample has been
calculated.
b) In the inspection lot transactions, the documents can be printed,
but not immediately from the stock postings.
Error messages: QA162, CO412 (among others)
Transaction codes: QA01, QA02, QA03, MB01 (among others)

Cause and prerequisites

There can be several reasons for this situation:
1. The print form does not exist, the print form does not exist in
the required language nor does it exist in the client concerned,
or the print form is not activated (system installation).
2. The table settings are incorrect (Customizing).
3. The print reports or print forms have been modified incorrectly.

Solution
Call up the following menu sequence from the Implementation Guide:
Quality Management -> Inspection processing -> Inspection lot ->
Print control.
You will receive the same information if you select the following in
the Configuration menu: Logistics -> Quality management -> Inspection
process -> Inspection lot -> Print control, and then hold down the
left mouse button on the field "Print control" and simultaneously
select F1.

Error search strategy:
1. Check the system installation
Do valid print forms exist?
2. Check the Customizing application
Do the settings match the delivery status or have they been main-
tained incorrectly?
3. Check the programs
Are the forms and the print reports correct?

Instructions for the error search
---------------------------------

To start the error search, it is important that the settings for the
current SAP standards be restored. With these settings, you should be
able to store the documents in the spool file and display them if you
select the following menu sequence: System -> Services -> Output
controller. Functions that extend beyond this area, such as
printing from the spool file or setting up your own lists, are the
responsibility of the consulting department since they require specific
knowledge.

1. Check the form definition

Select the following menu sequence:

Tools -> Word processing -> Form or Transaction SE71

Then enter "PROBEZIEHANWEIS" and select the option "Display",
or enter "PRUEFANWEISUNG" and select the option "Display".
If one of the two forms does not exist, copy it from client 0 using
the following procedure:
Select the option "Utilities -> Copy from client" and copy the missing
form in the required language from client 0. Then activate it.

If you use a new maintenance level you should copy the standard form
from client 0 to the current client to make sure that the form and the
print report correspond to each other.

2. Set the tables

Cause a)
========
No instruction (sample drawing or inspection instruction) can be
printed from the maintenance transactions of the inspection lot.
a.1) Order types QM01 and QM02 must be maintained.
For this purpose, call up the following menu sequence for the
maintenance of order types:
Tools -> Customizing -> Configuration -> Logistics -> Production
Production control -> Master -> Order -> Order type Transaction KOT2)

In this table, both order types QM01 (sample drawing instruction)
and QM02 (inspection instruction) must be assigned to order type
50 (inspection lot).

a.2) Settings for order types QM01 and QM02:
Call up the menu sequence for maintenance of print control:
Tools -> Customizing -> Configuration -> Logistics -> Quality
management -> Inspection process -> Inspection lot -> Print control
(Transaction CQ85)

> Lists:
Set the definitions for a user ID. Either maintain the user
individually or define a masked entry (masking "XXXXXXXXXXXX"
for the user and "XXXX" for the plant).

On the detail screen for the user entries, maintain the following
data:
- General lists:
set the marking indicators,
enter "Sample drawing instruction",
enter the printer name under "DEST",
set the indicators "H" and "Imm.",
Days: enter 3.

- Operation lists:
set the marking indicators,
enter "Inspection instruction",
enter the printer name under "DEST",
set the indicators "H" and "Imm.",
Days: enter 3.

> Transactions:
The order types QM01 and QM02 must be entered. The field "Plant"
can be masked ("XXXX"); also the field for the planner "MRP"
("XXX") .
In the column "TCode", the transaction codes must be entered.
In the case of inspection lot processing, these codes are
QA01, QA02 and QA03. Further transaction codes: see cause b).
In the columns PV (print variant) and NoPr (number of printouts),
enter 1 for the time being.
Example of sample drawing instruction in all plants, for each
planner, from all inspection lot transactions:
QM01 XXXX XXX QA01 1 1
QM01 XXXX XXX QA02 1 1
QM01 XXXX XXX QA03 1 1

Using the option "Choose", you can branch to the list assignment
screen. Here you mark the checkbox "Sample draw.instruct." for
order type QM01. The checkbox "Inspection instruct." is not
marked.
For order type QM02, mark the checkbox "Inspection instruct.".
The checkbox "Sample draw.instruct." is not marked.

> Forms:
The form names are assigned to the lists.
The forms are assigned to each plant and each order type.
For order type QM01, the form "PROBEZIEHANWEIS" must be used.
For order type QM02, the form "PRUEFANWEISUNG" must be used.
Example (plant is masked):
XXXX QM01 LG01 PROBEZIEHANWEIS
XXXX QM02 LV01 PRUEFANWEISUNG

Here stands for the printer name. LG01 stands for the first
general list and LV01 for the first operation list.

> Reports:
A print report must be defined for each form. In the standard
version, the reports RQDSES10 for the sample drawing instruction
and RQEEAS10 for the inspection instruction are at your disposal.
In the standard version, the table contains the following entries:
QM01 1 LG01 RQDSES10
QM02 1 LV01 RQEEAS10

Here QM01 and QM02 stand for the order types. LG01 stands for
the first general list, and LV01 for the first operation list.

> Document types:
In this table, QM01 is assigned to RefO QM01,
QM02 is assigned to RefO QM02. These are not of importance for QM.

> Table access:
No entries!

Cause b)
========
From the maintenance transactions of the inspection lot, printing is
possible, but not immediately for the stock postings.
First check whether automatic printing of the sample drawing instruc-
tion and inspection instruction is defined for the inspection type
in the Customizing application.
Select the following menu sequence:
Tools -> Customizing -> Configuration -> Logistics -> Quality
management -> Inspection process -> Inspection lot -> Inspection
type

On the detail screen of the respective inspection type, set the
indicator for printing the sample drawing instruction and inspection
instruction.

For the order types QM01 (sample drawing instruction) and QM01 (inspec-
tion instruction), fill in the transaction data in the Customizing
application, as required (see the procedure described under cause a):
MB01 Goods receipt for purchase order
MB31 Goods receipt for order
VL07 Goods receipt for delivery note
MB1C Other goods receipt
MB1A Goods issue
MB1B Stock transfer
On the detail screen, activate the required lists and maintain the
respective data.

3) Form and print reports

If you have executed all the steps so far, you should now be able to
print sample drawing instructions and inspection instructions.

As of Release 2.2, you can use a different sample form for the inspec-
tion instruction. This new form is called INSP_INSTRUCTION. If it
does not exist, you can copy it from client 0 using the procedure
described under item 1 above.

As described under item 2 above, the form must be entered for
the table settings under the section "Forms".
Instead of PRUEFANWEISUNG, use the name INSP_INSTRUCTION.
IMPORTANT: The forms and print reports must correspond to each other.
If you are using the form INSP_INSTRUCTION, you must have the name
RQEEAS20 under "Reports", and not RQEEAS10 (corresponds to the form
PRUEFANWEISUNG).

For problems with English forms, refer to Note no. 12779.

For general technical informationen about print control, refer to
Note no. 11104.

To check the current print control, select the following menu sequence:
Tools -> Customizing -> Configuration -> Logistics -> Quality
management -> Inspection process -> Inspection lot -> Print control ->
Environment -> Settings.

Key word: Print control
